Quora is an extremely powerful question and answer based platform.

It is easy to use and highly efficient in targeting specific audiences. Essentially, you type in a topic and endless questions will pop-up for you to answer. It is best to type in keywords on topics that you are either interested or an expert in. People are out there looking for your answers. I encourage my own clients and community to spend at least an hour a week just answering questions on Quora.

The great part is that you can link your answers to your social media, blog, or videos to best answer the questions. Use Quora to your advantage by answering questions from your niche and ideal customers. This platform is tried and true in boosting business and directing traffic where you want it to go.

Quora has soared in popularity since launching in 2009 and has continued to gather interest from high-level executives, journalists, industry leaders, and entrepreneurs.

Questions are asked and answered for free and the continued dialogue encourages users to stay engaged with a network of people. The questions are vast and different and so, it is easy to get lost down the rabbit hole of never-ending questions. To stay focused on your business, it is important to use your time effectively and efficiently using the following tips and tricks that I have found useful in my own practice.

Quora works day and night in getting the answers that you are looking for.

  1. Get new ideas or new perspectives. With the simple purpose of battling writer’s block, Quora is a great way to get new ideas or new perspectives on topics that you are currently working on. Type in a topic that you are an expert in and find an unanswered question with a high number of followers. Granted that you want to contribute, offer your advice and use the interaction as a starting point or basis for a blog post or article. Sometimes all it takes is a simple back and forth dialogue to spark ideas or new talking points.

  1. Start the conversation on Quora. By no means is this a suggested platform for ongoing interaction or business, but it is a great way to make connections and get the conversation started. If all goes well, you would move the conversation off of Quora and onto your preferred means of communication. Following mentors or people that you are inspired by is a great way to start. By answering questions that they are following, there is the potential of getting their attention. If they choose to like or comment on your answer, you may wish to reach out to them directly via direct message.

  1. Brush up on your communication skills. There is a lot of value in interactions beyond gaining new contacts or prospective business. The interactions themselves can help you to fine tune your ideas or gain perspective on what you wish to accomplish. Frequent communication allows for practice in being clear and concise. This practice can come in handy for when it really matters. The feedback you get on your answers can be beneficial in understanding what people are really looking for and what they value.

  1. Work on building your presence, but don’t overpromise. It is important to respond to topics that you are truly knowledgeable in. People will see through your answers when you are in unfamiliar waters. Answer questions related to your business without directly mentioning it. If you offer sound or useful advice, followers will eventually notice and hopefully, reach out. With that said, use your real name and have a detailed profile so that when people do look you up, they know where to go next.

  1. Use Google alerts to notify you on topics of interest. If you create an alert on Quora and your business, you will receive an email notification every time that you are mentioned. When you are mentioned, be sure to engage and maintain contact. Make sure that you are also a part of the conversations in your area of expertise. This will help in building your reputation on Quora. You may also want to set Google alerts on topics of interest as well as your competition. It is a great way to stay connected and stay on top of what is going on.

  1. Ask good questions. Sometimes the questions are more important than the answers. Quora is valuable because you need to ask an intriguing or interesting question in order to get good feedback. The better your question, the better feedback you will get. Determine what you would like to find out and tailor your questions accordingly. In terms of your business, knowing what questions will benefit you is an advantage. Time is critical and so, the more succinct and detailed your questions, the better the answers you will receive.

Once you get into the habit of asking the right questions, the right answers will follow. Setting aside some time each day, can reap more benefits that you could ever imagine. Answer important questions that your audience is asking and get engaged in the conversation. You never know where a simple interaction could lead. Quora, in its simplicity, gets people talking, connected, and informed on topics that matter the most to them.

What matters next is how you are going to get Quora working for you.
