If you feel disconnected from your audience, consider infusing business storytelling into your marketing.

This is the best way to connect more deeply with your current clients and let prospective ones learn more about who you are and what you offer.

Business Storytelling is an Art

here are seven best practices you can start using today to tell good stories and build your engagement.

#1 Tell Your Story for Your Audience

There are many different perspectives from which you can share your story. First, consider who your ideal client is and what stories would best resonate with them.

#2 Define Your Central Message

Know the “what” and “why” behind your story. What emotion are you trying to evoke in your audience? Why are you telling this story?

#3 Be Vulnerable

Share the ups and downs of your story; people want to see the challenges you have overcome because it gives them insight into how you or your product or service may be able to support them through similar situations.

#4 Stay On Brand

Share stories about your knowledge and experiences. Rather than trying to be everywhere or capture all the trends, stay true to your brand values and master one medium (e.g., Instagram, Pinterest) at a time before moving to the next.

#5 Engage the Senses

Consider how you can include visuals, audio and descriptive language to make your story an immersive experience for your audience.

#6 Make Your Customer Part of the Story

Let your customers share their journey of using your products or services. This is the most authentic way to build credibility and show people the potential of your offers.

#7 Include a Call to Action

The best way to keep your audience engaged after they have experienced one of your stories is to call them to take action. This could be a personal reflection, a link to your freebie, e-book, course, or further information on how they can work with you.
