Whenever you’re creating content, you want to focus on creating pieces that have meaning and serve a purpose. Always, always try to steer clear of releasing content just for the sake of it — over time, this will cheapen your brand and prevent your audience from getting to know the real, authentic you. Learning how to create mindful content, matters.
Nowadays, authenticity is vital if you want to get and stay relevant.
Consumers are savvy and can see through content that isn’t genuine or purposeful.
Creating content comes down to sharing your life, brand, and stories with others, which is why it must come from an authentic place.
That said, it’s always possible to be more mindful of the content you create.
How to Create Mindful Content
Find a Purpose
As I stated earlier, consider the purpose of each piece of content you create. What’s the benefit? Are you trying to share an important story, teach your audience something, or explain a valuable part of the information? No matter the purpose, you want to ensure it supports your overall mission.
Stay away from posting to keep up with a schedule or because you feel like you need to.
Make Sure You’re Interacting
Posting content is one thing, but what follows is also a vital aspect of being more mindful of each person that likes, shares, or comments on your content, where possible try to engage back. Not only does it help humanize you and your brand, but it helps build a community of loyal followers who feel like they know you.
This doesn’t have to be highly time-consuming, either — depending on the size of your brand; you can spend up to 45 minutes per week engaging back with your followers to show your appreciation.
Don’t Rush
Sometimes when we’re in a time crunch, we hurriedly come up with a piece of content and post it right away. Often, you make grammar mistakes or word something more ineffectively than you would have liked.
Instead, to be more mindful, create content and sit on it for a while. Then, come back to it hours or even days later and edit. Your content will continuously improve with each revision, and there is nothing wrong with contemplating your content before posting it. As a brand, you want to be known for having thought-out, creative content rather than something messy and rushed.
Add Value
Creating content that has value means that you answer a burning question, provide a helpful resource, or share an experience that can be useful to an audience member. This doesn’t mean that you have to be an expert; it just means that you’re creating content from your unique perspective that still has value and a focus.
One of the easiest ways to add value is to link to internal or external resources that support the information you’re writing about or provide greater context to your topic. Another way is to share personal stories and mistakes or lessons you’ve learned along the way.
This helps to put a real face behind the brand, which will allow people to feel more connected to you.
