9 Quick Tricks for Coming up with Content Ideas
1. Use Analytics
Probably the best way to figure out what content works best is to use your analytics. Most social media platforms have that built in, but you can also use tools such as Google Analytics or Hootsuite to get a better picture. Study your top-performing content and see what is has in common to help you create a pipeline of content that performs.
2. Search, Search, Search
Need a content idea? Searching for ideas, whether that’s on Google or Pinterest, can be extremely helpful (and easy). Search suggestions can really help you get an idea for the types of things people are searching for, which is why it can help you easily create content that matches the most-searched phrases and keywords.
3. Read Your Comments
Often times, people will tell you what they like and don’t like in the comments of your content, so it can pay to read them. Figure out what your audience likes versus what just doesn’t work, and tailor your future content to those broad ideas.
4. Create Content Ideas in Batches
It can often take awhile to get into the content/writing headspace, which is why I always recommend creating content or coming up with ideas in batches. Sit down and give yourself a few hours to come up with ideas and maybe even write some content — you’ll find it much more time effective. My Content Kit can totally help you with this — more than a YEARS’ worth of content ready for you! (click here for access)
5. Leverage Storytelling
The best kind of content is the type of content that tells a story, so you don’t have to always come up with an out-of-the-box idea for your content. Instead, talk about you and your brand, and provide some insider scoop or shed some light on the inner workings of your brand to help engage your consumers. 6. Look At Your Competition
By taking a look at your competition, you can see what they’re doing right and what they could improve on. Are there gaps in their content that you could fill? Or maybe there are things they’re creating that you’ve been missing. When you scan the competition, you can have a more wholistic view of what kind of content resonates.
7. Ask Your Audience
Want to know what kind of content to create? Ask your customers. This may seem obvious and straightforward, but they can really help you do the legwork when it comes to content creation.
8. Republish Old Content
There is absolutely nothing wrong with republishing old content that worked well. Often, people aren’t looking months or years into your archives, so by republishing your old stuff, not only does it allow you to put a new spin on it, but it can also help get it out in front of fresh eyes.
9. Follow Trends
No matter the industry you’re in, there are always certain trends that seem to dominate the content. Figure out what trends are “hot” right know and use that to create content.
