As an Instructional Content Creator, you’re gifted at engaging in discussions with your community and encouraging dialogue and learning.
You’re a thoughtful and considerate person, always curious about world around you and can make any situation an educational moment!
Your wisdom and analytic skills render very easily into your content: social, emails, articles, blogs, tutorials, webinars, speaking gigs and videos. (TEDx, here you come!)
Then just look at your comment and replies! 👀You’re really good at making an effort to understand and engage with your audience. This communication gift fosters a sense of community, sharing of perspectives, and deepens relationships.
Bottom line: you want to see your audience absorb the knowledge to make the necessary changes … and finally succeed! It’s already proven: you’ve got the know-how to help them do it.
(BTW, the rest of us are envious of your ability to make data-driven conclusions and then be so clear, concise and direct. in your delivery.)
When it comes to content, you’ve got high standards. It’s a good thing with well-edited videos and typo-free captions. Since you’re so accurate, dependable and well-planned in your work, your expertise translates as professional in the online space and as recognition as a trusted thought leader. (Even when you aren’t pursing this label!)
Consistency is your superpower. It’s kinda a big deal when showing up regularly in the algorithm and inbox is a main struggle for most. Bravo!
Content is your jam. You enjoy demonstrating your expertise and effortlessly build authority with well-structured ideas and presentations. So let’s create content the right way that bonds your community on a deep emotional and gets them buying from you. (I have a proven framework for you, keep reading).
With your innate drive to learn, grow and share — you’ll influence the change needed in your industry and make an impact on this world.
Plain and simple: Your followers and friends are enlightened by you. 🧲
On the flip side, instructional personalities struggle with:
- Perfectionism & over-analysis
- Generating spontaneous ideas
- Not wanting change
- Prioritizing facts & fire-hosing information
- Experimenting with new ideas
- Getting your audience to take action
And that’s ok, we aren’t meant to be perfect. You’re far too smart for others to hold this against you.
Your ability to show your flaws is a trump card you’re already playing.
I’ve ghostwritten content for instructional clients like you,
here’s the faux pas you’re probably making with your content:
❌ Instructional personalities tend to remove themselves from the narrative❌

But growing an impactful following and creating content that actually converts can make you feel like Cousin Greg on Succession…
✅ A little awkward, nervous, and out of place.
Heck, it can even make you feel doubtful and unsure of what you’re doing.
(But he’s definitely smarter than he looks)
Every time you sit down to write your content, you may be:
Overly Critical
Because you’re focused on precision and accuracy, it’s easy for perfectionism to halt you in your tracks and prevent you from hitting publish. Excessive re-writes and edits delay any sort of timely delivery and lose their effectiveness.
It’s hard for your personality to generate spontaneous and creative ideas or experiment with new content approaches.
So you end up following a rigid, generic content calendar that doesn’t match your business or your audience’s needs. Doesn’t move the needle either.
Overthinking
Should I disclose this? You’re not stepping into the spotlight because you know don’t want your content to be gimmicky or an online drama diary! But you really don’t know how to include yourself into your own messaging and be more vulnerable + emotional.
So other than concrete facts, whats should you write in your emails, blogs, scripts, and social media posts?
Once you hit ‘schedule’, you’re wondering:
Does it make sense? Was this right? Is this good enough? What was I missing? Should I have shared this? How could I do better?
Questioning
How to bridge the gap between sharing objective and helpful information and getting someone to actually buy.
Is there a better way to post content that’ll move your audience to take action without overwhelming them with a firehose of content and excessive details?
How do I stop spouting facts and actually get conversions?
Scared
…of change. You prefer stability and predictability in both things and people. If you deviate and experiment with new stories and content, will it work? Will it be accurate? Or…
Will I get unsubscribes and unfollows?
Will I lose trust?
Will my sales tank?
Will I lose my business and all my security?
I GET IT. My most successful clients get stuck here too.
Business requires you to dish out a steady stream of content to attract new eyeballs and nurture the ones already in your world.
It’s completely normal to feel overwhelmed and second-guessing yourself when trying to create content that your audience will actually LOVE and then HIT BUY from.
Most instructional personalities, like you, are really good at showing up every day and adding their high-order thinking into their content.
But then your deep-seated fear is: will people criticize it?
If you’re scared people are judging, you’ll never try, test or find out what works.
(You’ll also never get eyeballs and traffic.)
Ultimately, you lose your chances left and right to connect deeply with your audience.
👎 Which means you’re losing revenue.
I don’t want that for you. We both know the importance of creating content that’ll position your business as a best-fit solution.
AND…
You’ll be able to sell your product or service with confidence.
I can help you with a tried-and-true way to create stories in your content, but first …
Drop this FOMO right now ⬇️
A perfectly organized Content Calendar alone is NOT going to save your tanking engagement or let you off the hook with creating content that actually serves your business.
Nope.
I know, as an instructional type, you love being organized and in control. It’s nice to have predictable, steady content publishing for the hard-to-please algorithm.
✅ But these prompts and the posts need to serve your business.
Mostly they’re too generic and impersonal. Copying exactly what others have done too. Turning into posting just to post. (Never a good thing.)
Good news! With your instructional personality, it’s really easy for you to think through concepts and add your own spin (and data)!
So you can deviate from the plan and create converting content on the fly. You just need a tested framework to make sure it’s the right piece of content with all the essential ingredients (including emotion) to move your audience forward.
This will make any curated prompt or spontaneous idea work for your business.
The best place to start? With you and your business!
I bet there are a ton of stories you’re sitting on that you should be sharing as content.
The truth is your audience is hungry for YOU in content.
(Yes for real, because you’re a trustworthy expert, remember?!)
Keep scrolling, I’ll show you how to do this… but you’re probably making this one engagement-killing and profit-inhibiting mistake…

Neil Gaiman is correct;
your stories are your secret weapons to more sales!
No one else, no competitor, no assistant or ‘Greglet’, and no AI Robot can tell your stories.
Here’s why your content needs to be story-based to make more sales:
Stories make you stand out from the competition
→ The human mind is approximately 22 times more likely to remember facts when presented in story form.
When presented with statistics, people only remember 5% to 10% of the information.
However, they remember 65–70% of a story when they hear it. **According to Cognitive psychologist Jerome Bruner
In a busy, noisy, cluttered digital world, when we’re hit with up to 10,000 ads a day, a story will stand out.
Stories are more persuasive than facts and figures
→ Storytelling can boost conversion rates by 30% **According to Search Engine Watch
→ Stories increase perceived value so consumers will pay more for products that have a story in a product description **According to a Study by Origin/Hill Holliday
Stories Create Emotions, Emotions Sell
→ 95% of our purchasing decisions are emotional ** According to Harvard Business School professor Gerald Zaltman
This is what makes stories so powerful.
Stories make it easier for people to relate to your content and create emotional connections. It’s the fastest way to boost your Know, Like, and Trust Factor and speed up a buying process.

What kind of businesses need stories?
Every single business. Especially personal brands, network marketing, makers and creatives, coaches, and service providers.
The best marketers sell with stories.
Just look at the top brands, coaches, and influencers in your space. The ones who are really killing it.
Stories work.
When my Keto-influencer client Amy finally started telling stories, her business blew up…
Her Facebook group went from 9k to 190k 😱
Amy realized that she didn’t need a rags-to-riches or a wild once-in-a-lifetime story to relate to her audience.
Instead, she created a brand where people got to know her personally through the story-based content she created.
Her confessional story about craving Dr. Pepper and Oreos was a hit. She attracted her ideal clients in droves because she was completely herself.
Now she has helped over 180,000 people lose weight and feel better through Keto.
✅ Talk about income and impact.
Most instructional personalities, like you, are actually good at telling stories about other people…
Just not always in a way that actually converts and makes money for you.
(Don’t worry, I have a storytelling framework that I can teach you!)

The #1 question I get as a booked-out ghostwriter:
How do I tell stories that convert?
We need this frame of reference and a few key data points…
First, here’s how to tell if your stories are actually working
It’s easy to get stuck in the hamster wheel of content creation and feel like you’re pumping out content daily.
We’re so focused on the next to-do item that we forget to take inventory of what we’ve already created. Or, for your instructional personality type especially, go into an overload of data gathering and miss the obvious:
Is it actually moving the needle?
Go look at your results + analytics + replies, and take note if it’s actually working.
Here are telltale signs…

My #1 Story Fix for Instructional Content Creators
The good news for smartypants personas like you, you’re already sharing stories of your clients transforming and getting results. (Big high fives from me!)
You understand that social proof and case studies provide the data for others to achieve the same outcomes.
But this affects your sales department because you tend to leave yourself out of the equation. Oops.
Your biggest problem with creating profitable content is: you need to be the guide… aka a central character in the stories of success.
You’ve built your content around OTHER PEOPLE. (This is no surprise, right? It’s easy for you to show off data, talk about others and shy away from the limelight.)
Then you’ve left out all the emotions (internal problems, needs, wants and desires) that make the story relatable, worth investing time in and taking action on.
Look, you’ve worked hard. You’ve developed your own individual process and methods that can work for others. Now it’s time to help your audience learn that you’re the trusted guide with the proven plan that will work for them too.
When you leave out the emotions and yourself:
… your audience just can’t relate. They don’t connect on a deep emotional level. They don’t see themselves in your story.
Remember – people buy based on emotions. See how it’s all related?
📣Tell more transformational stories with you as the guide.
→ Demonstrate your leadership from behind the scenes and indirectly
→ Showcase your team or clients. Highlight their wins with you in a supporting role
→ Make the main character relatable and emotional
You can actually take a play from wide-eyed Cousin Greg in HBO’s Succession. His bumbly, awkward character is doing something right when the other main characters are not relatable.
He’s the only family member in the show with any kind of moral compass. He’s not in the affluent 1%… at least not yet. He goes through experiences many of us have been through. Being like the outsider, saying the wrong things, getting tasked with work he doesn’t want to do, and being treated poorly.
We find ourselves liking Greg, cheering for Greg and … not liking that he’s become a verb “gregging”
Let me help you up your *relatable Greg factor* in your own stories.

📌 Storytelling Tip for Instructional Content Creators
👇This small copy tweak changes everything for instructional creators.
I do this with all my clients’ stories: inside emails, social posts, and scripts:
Usually we’re taking them out of being center of the story, by changing from first person to first person plural.
Do this by shifting your content from ‘I’ to ‘we.’
✔️ This helps your potential clients and customers go from witnessing the journey to feeling like a part of the journey.
✔️ It keeps all the other personalities from coming across as “caught up in the hype” and difficult to empathize with. (aka too much the hero)
✔️ When we do this with my storytelling clients and we see their saved content and engagement skyrocket.
→This tweak has made such a difference for my clients that Forbes featured them in an article. (#humblebrag)
But in your personality’s case, we need to go from third person to first person plural and add you back in!
Her = We
He = We
They = We
Get it? It’s an easy storytelling tweak for you to take back some of the glory, get credit and make more sales.
Imagine what it would feel like if you had:
→ The ability to wake up and spur people into action, even on the fly, with the timely and relevant stories.
→ Confidence in yourself because you know what to say and how to say it to really draw people in without offending people.
→ A loyal and engaged audience who is fun to connect and interact with. Because your community in alignment with your true authentic personality and your business goals.
→ A chance to break out of the pack and stand out in your business, so that you see major growth, recognition, visibility opportunities and new doors opening.
→ Consistent sales because your community trusts you and can see the transformation of your products, services, and programs.
Well, this (and MORE) is all possible…
If you’re not able to sell your products or services….
Here’s the hard truth: if you aren’t seeing conversions, it’s because your content isn’t showing your customers how your product or service is going to make their lives better.
So, if you want to sell something to your community, you need to sell the stories of the transformation. Your customers need to believe a transformation can happen for them.
When they see and feel that transformation through your story, they become a part of the story … and that’s when your content converts.
Dear Instructional Content Creator,
You’re pretty amazing. You have what it takes to be successful in business and be a true changemaker.
Here’s the obvious: AI can help you write your content and pull out themes, but it’ll always sound like a robot.
What AI can’t do is write your story.
Only YOU can.
Your voice, your perspective, and your stories are the keys to unlocking sales and impact.
In these quiz results, you’ve learned the lesson that your extra challenge as an instructional personality is to write emotional stories that showcase your people and include you as the facilitator.
Again, AI isn’t going to help.
Plus you have the added challenge of needing to be relatable and vulnerable. Two weak areas for your meticulous personality.
Can I help you give your stories the ingredients they need to convert into sales?
I can share the same T.R.U.E Storytelling Framework™ I use with my ghostwriting clients to empower you to tell your own stories that actually move the needle in your business.
This will help you mine stories from your everyday life that will get you more sales.
Mastering this storytelling skill will unleash your confidence (and creativity) of your voice, and achieve the results you’re really after.
(Profits + impact. No judging here)
